Description: The T-84 is a derivative of T-80UD diesel-powered main battle tank developed by Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau (KMDB) for the Ukrainian Army and export customers. The T-84 features a new all-welded turret, improved explosive reactive armor (ERA), thermal imaging sight, digital fire-control system, a more powerful 1200-hp diesel engine, auxiliary power unit (APU), advanced countermeasures system, automatic muzzle reference system, and navigation aids. The first prototype was unveiled in 1994 and achieved initial operational capability with the Ukrainian Army in 1999. The T-84 main battle tank underwent evaluation trials in Greece in 1998, Turkey in 2000 and Malaysia in 2000.

The Yatagan, also referred to as T-84-120 or KERN2-120, is a further development of the Oplot/T-84 main battle tank featuring a 120mm NATO-compliant smoothbore main gun fed by an autoloader, which allows to keep a crew of three-man. The new tank is targeted at the export market focusing on NATO countries. The Yatagan main battle tank (MBT) was introduced in 2000 and was demonstrated in Turkey during evaluation trials by the Turkish Army. It benefits from several solutions developed during T-72-120 tank modernization program.

The Yatagan turret-mounted weapon package includes a 120mm smoothbore gun with 40 rounds of which 22 in the autoloader, one 12.7mm KT-12.7 anti-aircraft machine gun with 450 rounds, and a 7.62mm KT-7.62 coaxial machine gun with 4,000 rounds. The 6TD-2 two-stroke, multi-fuel, liquid-cooled 6-cylinder diesel engine, fuel injected engine develops 1,200-hp at 2,600 rpm allowing a maximum speed on-road of 65 kph.
