Description: The C-X program is meant to procure a cargo military aircraft to replace the C-1 fleet in service with Japanese Defense Force (JDF). The entry into service of the first C-X cargo aircraft is scheduled for 2011. Between 20 and 30 aircraft could be produced under the C-X program.

The first engine is scheduled for delivery in 2006 and the procurement contract of the CF6 engines is valued at approximately $1 billion for a 30-year. The same engine was already selected by Japan to power the 767 AWACS, KC-767 tanker and Boeing 747 VIP transport aircraft.
