Description: The MAN HX all-wheel drive vehicle range has been designed to provide high mobility off-road to military customers while carrying heavy loads. The HX series are derived from the TGA heavy truck technology also developed by MAN. These vehicles are suitable for global logistic and tactical off-road operation such as peacekeeping missions. HX vehicles combine maximum mobility and reliability with great operating economy and efficiency in scenarios ranging from desert to artic climate (-32 to +49 Celsius). Depending on the version, these vehicles can be airlifted by C-130, C-160 or A400M tactical transport aircraft.

These vehicles are available in 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8 wheel drive configurations. The basic performance of the HX heavy truck system family comprises a fording depth of 1.5 meters with preparation, a large ground clearance, very good angles of approach (40-degre) and departure (35-degree), 60 percent gradient climbing capacity, a ditch crossing ability of up to 1.8 meters, a step climbing ability of 0.6 meters, and a maximum side slope of 40 percent. The HX vehicles have a service life of 20 years and max gross weight of up to 120 tons.

The diesel engine is placed under the cab with the cooling system on top of the frame behind the cab. Both HX and SX vehicles are powered by Euro 4 pollutant emissions compliant MAN common rail six-cylinder and V8 diesel engines. Its solid modular cab is made of steel and provided with detonation-proof windscreens installed vertically to minimize light reflection. The cab can be hydraulically tilted to a position ideal for work on the engine and gearbox.

The HX 77 is an 8x8 heavyweight truck system available in load handling system (LHS) and tanker versions. The HX 81 heavyweight vehicle is another member of the HX 8x8 series.
