Description: The MAN SX all-wheel drive vehicle range has been designed to provide extreme mobility off-road to military customers while carrying heavy loads. These vehicles are suitable for global logistic and tactical off-road operation such as peacekeeping missions. SX vehicles combine maximum mobility and reliability with great operating economy and efficiency in scenarios ranging from desert to artic climate (-32 to +49 Celsius). Depending on the version, these vehicles can be airlifted by C-130, C-160 or A400M tactical transport aircraft. Its off-road capabilities and torsional rigidity along with its corrosion protection and robustness and dependability of its components make the SX family the benchmark for high mobility military heavy truck systems.

These vehicles are available in 6x6 and 8x8 wheel drive configurations and provided with a suspension design that absorbs even extreme terrain irregularities. The basic performance of the SX heavy truck system family comprises a fording depth of 1.5 meters with preparation, a large ground clearance, very good angles of approach (40-degre) and departure (35-degree), 60 percent gradient climbing capacity, a ditch crossing ability of up to 1.9 meters, a step climbing ability of 0.6 meters, and a maximum side slope of 40 percent. The SX vehicles have a service life of 30 years. Its outstanding mobility makes the SX closer to tracked chassis in terms of accessibility.

The diesel engine, cooling system and fully automated converter are combined in a compact power pack under behind and under the cab. Both HX and SX vehicles are powered by Euro 4 pollutant emissions compliant MAN common rail six-cylinder and V8 diesel engines. Its solid modular cab is made of steel and provided with detonation-proof windscreens installed vertically to minimize light reflection. The cab can be hydraulically tilted to a position ideal for work on the engine and gearbox.

The SX 45 Multi 2 IAC 3 is an enhanced armored version of the SX 45 extreme mobility truck developed by MAN in cooperation with Krauss-Maffei Wegmann to better deal with asymmetric warfare/terrorism threats such as improvised explosive devices, mines, small arms fire, shrapnel and suicide bombings. Equipped with add-on armor attached outside the cab the SX 45 obtains effective protection against small arms fire and mines NATO STANAG protection levels 1 and 2 respectively. That additional armor can be mounted and removed by only two men. The Integrated Armor Cabin (IAC) solution is an all-steel design of the cab that provides protection against firearms and shrapnel (level 3) and anti-tank mine blasts (level 3b). Besides the additional armor, the IAC solution permits to integrate a cab's roof-mounted machine gun or grenade launcher operated under armor. The all-protected SX 45 Multi 2 IAC 3 heavy truck has been successfully deployed by the German Army within KFOR peacekeeping forces in Kosovo.
