Description: The AN/AAQ-16 is a second generation, long wavelength IR imaging system designed for airborne low level navigation, long range targeting and surveillance applications. The AN/AAQ-16(3 FOV) provides higher resolution imagery and better performance than current first generation FLIRs. Reliability and maintainability is also better than first generation FLIRs.

The AN/AAQ-16(3 FOV) is the latest derivative of the combat proven AN/AAQ-16B. AAQ-16s are specially suitable for helicopters. CH-47, SH-2 and CV-22 are outfitted with this device.
