Description: FLIR Systems' BRITE Star is a cost-effective, military-qualified, multi-sensor laser designation system that incorporates an advanced third-generation thermal imager, a CCD-TV (768x494 resolution) camera, a laser designator and an laser designator/rangefinder. It is suitable for rotary-wing aircraft and shipborne platforms applications and is based on the AN/AAQ-21/22 SAFIRE family technology. BRITE Star also features 4-axis stabilization.

BRITE Star was selected by the US Marine Corps for its fleet of UH-1N Huey helicopters and saw combat during the military campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq. Its successor, BRITE Star II, was selected by Bell Helicopter for the ARH-70A helicopter in July 2006. BRITE Star II multi-sensor system will serve as the Target Acquisition Sensor Suite (TASS) for the US Army's Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter program.
