Description: The GMDS X-band radar is a large, high-powered, phased array, X-band, fire control radar featuring precision discrimination and interceptor support. It is mounted on a dynamic pedestal and mechanically slewed to provide hemispheric coverage. It uses components similar to those of the THAAD radar, incorporating the enhancements necessary to meet its more demanding GMDS (Ground based Midcourse Defense Segment) requirements. The GMDS radar can be populated with 69,632 transmit/receive modules.
