LITENING III

Description: The LITENING II is an improved version of the proven LITENING pod realized in cooperation between Rafael and Northrop-Grumman. The LITENING II incorporates a 256x256 resolution third generation FLIR, a CCD-TV, Inertial Navigation System (INS), laser marker, laser designator, and laser spot tracker/rangefinder. LITENING II also features software upgrades compared with basic LITENING pod developed by Rafael alone.

The LITENING II provides navigation aids and targeting for delivery of conventional and precision-guided weapons. The LITENING II targeting and navigation pod has been ordered by the United States, Spain and Italy for use on their AV-8 Harrier Vertical/Short Take Off and Landing (V/STOL) aircraft. The United States of America uses the LITENING II on its Air Force F-16 and F-15E aircraft.
