Description: The C-Star or Haeseong I, also known as SSM-700K Hae Sung I and Sea Star, is a surface-to-surface anti-ship missile developed by the Agency for Defense Development and LIG Nex1 to reduce the Republic of Korea Navy's (RoKN) dependence on foreign-made anti-ship missiles such as US Harpoon or French Exocet. The C-Star has been designed to fit into RoKN's frigates and destroyers such as KDX ships. The missile is powered by a high capacity turbojet for over-the-horizon strikes against hostile ships at high subsonic speed and ultra low altitudes. Its navigation system combines a radio altimeter, Inertial Navigation System (INS) and GPS satellite navigation with an active radar seeker at the terminal phase. The missile has been provided with some capability to detect and counter Electronic Warfare (EW) jamming. The warhead is similar to the one provided to the Harpoon missile with impact or penetration fuze. The long-range C-Star weapon system has been deployed onboard RoKN's Ulsan and KDX class frigates replacing the Harpoon missile. In addition to the shipboard anti-ship missile role, the C-Star is also suitable for coastal defense launched from mobile land platforms.
