Description: The Grom-1, 'Thunder' in English, is a precision guided cruise missile developed by Russia's Tactical Missiles Corporation (KTRV) and derived from the Kh-38ME air-to-surface missile. The Grom-1 cruise missile rocket motor allows to engage surface targets at ranges of up to 280 kilometers. The Inertial Navigation System (INS) satellite (GPS) based navigation system allows to hit targets with outstanding accuracy while minimizing collateral damage. The Grom-1 weapon existence was revealed at MAKS air show outside Moscow on August 31, 2015. The Grom-1 and Grom-2 weapon systems are provided with INS navigation combined with either laser, active radar, thermal-imaging or satellite guidance. Their modular design allows for integration of a variety of warheads. The new strike weapons have been designed for release by the Su-24M and Su-34 bombers and the Mig-29SMT tactical fighter aircraft.
