Description: The Hyumu, also known as Hyunmoo or Hyun-Mu which means 'a God defending the North' in Korean, is a tactical ballistic missile family developed by the Agency for Defense Development and LIG Nex1 to meet the requirements of the Republic of Korea Army (RoKA). The RoKA intention is to use the Hyunmu missiles as a deterrence weapon against North Korea. The weapon system development was inspired by Iraq's Scud missiles employed by Saddam Hussein during the Gulf War in 1991. The weapon system consists of a mobile launcher, missile trailer, guided missile and a battery control station mounted on a 5-ton truck to control three launchers. The RoKA has deployed the Huynmu high precision tactical ballistic missiles in two versions introduced in the late 2000s.

The Hyunmu-2 is a road-mobile tactical ballistic missile designed to hit targets at ranges of 300 kilometers inside North Korea's territory. Some reports suggest that the actual range is 500 kilometers. The missile system features two-stage layout and a guidance system that might combine the inertial navigation system with some kind of terrain matching to engage a target with high accuracy in the terminal phase of the flight.
