Description: The Marte ER is a new anti-ship missile derived from the Marte Mk2 and featuring extended range thanks to a new turbojet propulsion system. The missile body is wider to accommodate the new turbojet engine, fuel tanks and air intake. However, the missile is shorter and lighter than Marte Mk2 and also incorporates insensitive pyrotechnical devices. The terminal guidance system has been optimized with an advanced I-band active seeker with adaptive search patterns, excellent discrimination and resistance to electronic countermeasures (ECM). The Marte ER is aimed at engaging enemy vessels beyond radar horizon at ranges in excess of 25 kilometers. MBDA announced the Marte Mk2/S-A and Marte ER variants development in June 2009 at the Paris air show.
