Description: R-1, US/NATO SS-1 Scunner, was the first ballistic missile developed in the Soviet Union. It was influenced by the German V-2. Its propulsion system uses a combination of Alcohol and Liquid Oxygen (LOX) as fuel. R-1 is classified as a short range ballistic missile (SRBM) carrying a 1,000-lb payload at ranges of up to 270 km.
