Description: The RSM-54 is a submarine launched ballistic missile designed to carry four 100-500 kilotons nuclear warheads. It features three stages with liquid-propellant and ABM-defenses countermeasures. Each Delta IV nuclear-powered strategic submarine accommodates 16 RSM-54 ballistic missiles. It has been upgraded for optimal performance.

The RSM-54 missile was deployed in 1983 and might remain in service beyond 2010 with 667BDRM submarines being replaced progressively by the Sineva ballistic missile.
