Description: Bell 417 is a light single-engine powerful helicopter suitable for law enforcement and other applications requiring improved hot and high hover performance. It is based upon the Bell 407 legacy while adding more payload and more power and a seating capacity of up to five persons. Key components are a Chelton glass cockpit and Honeywell HTS900 turbine engine capable of developing 970-shp of power. Bell 417 first flight was scheduled for April 2006 with certification and first delivery to end customers occurring in 2008. Bell unveiled this aircraft in Texas at Heli-Expo in February 2006.
On June 1st, 2006, the Bell 417 helicopter carried out successfully its maiden flight after taking off from Bell XworX in Arlington, Texas. The first flight lasted for little more than half an hour.
