Description: Bombardier Challenger is a family of twin-engine, medium-size corporate jet with a seating capacity ranging from 8 to 50 passengers. Passengers can afford enough room to conference and work while enjoying the aircraft's comfortable cabin. The Challenger fills the gap between the smaller Learjet and the huge Global which is more suitable for intercontinental trip rather than US coast-to-coast flights in the Bombardier product line portfolio. Challenger family also outstands by its reliability and long term service.
The Bombardier Challenger 605 program was launched in November 2005. It is a further derivative of the Challenger 604 midsize business jet leveraging its advanced cockpit and spacious cabin as well as its range. The Challenger 605 features increased cabin comfort and payload capacity by 200-pound. The additional payload capacity can be replaced by either one more passenger or 200-pound of fuel. The jet will be equipped with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite with four 10x12 inches LCD screens and the Integrated Flight Information System (IFIS) from the same company. The cabin was redesigned to provide more headroom and cabin volume and includes LED lighting throughout. The windows have been enlarged and relocated, and new window reveal designs boost the amount of natural light and substantially increase the viewing angle.
The aircraft is powered by two CFM International CF34-3B turbofan engines rated at 9,220 pounds each. With a crew of three and up to 20 passengers, Challenger 605 is capable of cruising at Mach 0.8 over a distance of 6,878 km. Cruising at Mach 0.74 Challenger 605 has a maximum range of 7,458 km. Type certification by Transport Canada is projected by the fourth quarter of 2006. Bombardier expects the first Challenger 605 entering into service in the third quarter of 2007. Bombardier Challenger 605 widebody business jet executed its maiden flight on 22 January 2006. The flight lasted for three-hour and 23-minute after taking off from Montreal-Trudeau International Airport. The first Bombardier Challenger 605 business jet entered service with US-based Russell Aviation in January 2007.
