Description: The Kamov Ka-90, formerly known as Ka-100, is a hybrid aircraft resulting in a combination of performances from helicopter and airplane. The Ka-90 will take off and land as a conventional helicopter while once reached the speed of 400 kilometers per hour the rotor blades will fold and the aircraft will fly like a jet engine powered airplane at speeds of up to 700- 800 kilometers per hour. The Ka-100 program started in 1985 but the collapse of the Soviet Union put on holds this effort. As of December 2017 Kamov stated the development work was underway with the design expected to be completed in the near future. The Ka-90 program, if successful, could become operate in the mid 2020s.
