Description:
The Precision Guidance Kit (PGK) is a revolutionary guidance kit meant to turn 155mm unguided artillery rounds into precision-guided weapons. The US Army's Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) awarded ATK the initial 18-month $18 million contract for the PGK system development and demonstration (SDD) in late May 2007. The PGK design features a GPS-based, fixed canard guidance and control approach with gun-hardened electronics, a self-generated power supply, and a minimum number of moving parts. The new guidance kit would be available for155mm US and NATO standard artillery beginning in 2009.
ATK projects over $1 billion in PGK sales for the US Army and international customers.
