Description: The Turbomeca Arriel engine family was designed very simple with reduced parts and only five modules for ease of maintenance while delivering excellent handling characteristics and high level of reliability. Arriel 1-series have been installed on a wide range of twin-engine commercial/military helicopters. Arriel 2 is an improved variant. So far, there are 28 versions of the Arriel 1/2 engine family developing between 640 and 944 shaft-horse-power (shp). The Time Between Overhaul (TBO) for Arriel 1 engine family is 3,000 hours which can be extended in three of its five modules. Launched in 1977, Turbomeca has produced more than 10,000 engines (6,000 Arriel 1 engines logging more than 19 million flight hours) logging more than 32 million flight hours with 1,300 customers in 110 countries.

The Arriel 1S1 is the most powerful engine developed under Arriel 1-series to date. Arriel 1S1 is offered as a replacement engine for Sikorsky S-76A+ helicopters and is powering S-76A++ and S-76C helicopters.
