Description: The Turbomeca Arriel engine family was designed very simple with reduced parts and only five modules for ease of maintenance while delivering excellent handling characteristics and high level of reliability. Arriel 1-series have been installed on a wide range of twin-engine commercial/military helicopters. Arriel 2 is an improved variant with the gas generator turbine made in one stage with single crystal blades compared to Arriel 1. The engine is controlled by a single channel electronic control unit with manual backup. The Arriel 2 engines are used to power lightweight helicopters. Launched in 1977, Turbomeca has produced more than 10,000 engines logging more than 32 million flight hours with 1,300 customers in 110 countries.
