Description: The BE-3 is a fourth generation rocket engine developed by Blue Origin to deliver 110,000 pounds of thrust at takeoff and up to 20,000-lb of thrust when landing back to Earth. The BE-3 engine burns a combination of liquid hydrogen and liquid Oxygen (LOx) which is environmentally friendly. The BE-3 engine has been designed to power the New Shepard space launch system also developed by Blue Origin.
The BE-3U is a variant of the BE-3 rocket engine fitted with a larger nozzle to effectively operate in the vacuum of orbital space. The BE-3U engine has been selected to power the third stage of the New Glenn space launch system.
