Description: The T800 is a family of turboshaft engines developed jointly between Honeywell and Rolls Royce under the Light Helicopter Turbine Engine Company (LHTEC). These engines are rated between 1,300 - 1,800-shp featuring modular design and ease of maintenance. The T800 engine was developed to power high performance light/medium helicopters operating in the military range such as the US Army RAH-66 Comanche (now cancelled).

LHTEC CTS800 is a T800 turbine engine improved variant rated at 1,361-shp and introduced in September 2001 (CTS800-4). CTS800N model was awarded engine certification in November 2003. To date, CTS800 engine is powering AgustaWestland Super Lynx 300, A129 attack helicopter, Japan's ShinMaywa US-1A Kai and Sikorsky X2 Technology prototype.

In June 2006, following the United Kingdom MoD Future Lynx launch LHTEC received a £75 million contract from AgustaWestland to supply CTS800-4 turboshaft engines to power the latest Lynx variant. CTS800 engines give the aircraft greatly improved hot and high performance and single engine performance over existing Lynx helicopters. The CTS800 engines provide 36% greater power than the Gem engines used in current MoD Lynx helicopters for very similar fuel consumption. Future Lynx with its CTS800 engines will have an endurance of approximately 3 hours with standard fuel and 4.5 hours with auxiliary fuel.
