Description: The Ivchenko-Progress D-18T is a three-shaft high by-pass turbofan engine rated at more than 50,000 pounds of thrust and designed to power very large transport aircraft. In fact, the D-18T was the first engine produced in the former Soviet to surpass the 20,000 kg of thrust mark. The engine's modular design consists of 17 modules and was provided with an outstanding monitoring system. The D-18T engines are currently powering the Antonov An-124, An-124-100 and An-225 strategic transport aircraft.
The early models suffered from shortened service life. This issue has been addressed on D-18T Series 3 and D-18T Series 4 engines powering the An-124-100 aircraft. The D-18T Series 4 engines also provide higher thrust at takeoff than its predecessors. Approximately, there are 188 D-18Ts in operation worldwide.
