Description: The D-30 is a family of turbofan engines developed and manufactured in the former Soviet Unit to power a wide range of jet aircraft ranging from fighters to tactical transport jets. There is a power generator application known as D-30STU based on the D-30 gas turbine. The engine family develops between 25,000 to 35,000 pounds of thrust. As of 2005, D-30 engines are being manufactured and marketed by Russian corporations NPO Saturn and Aviadvigatel.

The D-30KP engine was selected to power a wide range of large aircraft developed in the former Soviet Union. It provides 26,500 pounds of thrust. Its main aircraft applications are the Il-76 tactical transport aircraft; Il-78 tanker; Tu-154 airliner; Be-42 and A-40 amphibious jets; and the A-50 Mainstay AWACS aircraft. The D-30KU version was intended to power the Il-62M airliner. The D-30KU-154 version was developed to power the Tu-154M airliner.

The D-30KP Burlak is an improved version of D-30KP engine featuring an 11 percent fuel consumption reduction, ICAO 2008 emissions compliance and a power increase to 13,000 kg of thrust at takeoff. The resulting engine is intended to improve the flight performance of existing Il-76 transport aircraft.
