Description: The F404 engine was developed to power the US Navy's F/A-18 Hornet. It has been proved as a reliable high performance engine. The F404 incorporates an array of new technologies, modular design and advanced materials.

The F404-GE-402 engine retains the characteristics of baseline F404, while achieving higher power and increased fuel efficiency. This increased performance is the result of applying the latest technology and materials to the turbine and afterburner sections.

F404-GE-402 engines were installed on production F/A-18C/D Hornet since 1992.
