Description: The F414-GE-400 engine incorporates advanced technology with the proven design base of the F404 engine. Two F414 engines power the US Navy's F/A-18E/F Super Hornet aircraft. The F414 ceramic matrix composite (CMC) is a demonstrator engine designed to further validate the heat-resistant material for high-stress operation in GE's next-generation Adaptive Engine Technology Demonstrator (AETD). Rotating CMC components insertion into the hottest and hardest-working sections of jet engines represents a significant technology breakthrough for the jet propulsion industry.
