Description: The Kaveri is a fighter aircraft engine being developed by India's Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) with technical assistance from Russia's Central Institute of Aviation Motors (CIAM) and Gromov Flight Research Institute (GFRI). CIAM is providing the expertise to fine tuning the engine performance and engine is set to be ground and flight tested integrated onto an Il-76 test bed aircraft at the GFRI. The Kaveri engine is intended to power the Tejas single-engine light combat aircraft (LCA) also being developed by India. India has been funding the Kaveri fighter aircraft engine program since 2007 and is expected to complete after 2010.
