Description: The General Electric LM2500 gas turbine was designed to be a high efficiency, ease to repair and maintain and corrosion-resistant marine gas turbine. It is suitable for both mechanical drive and power generation applications. As of 2008 General Electric had delivered more than 2,000 LM2500 gas turbines.

The LM2500+G4 is a 35.3 MW variant of the LM2500 gas turbine launched in October 2005 offering 17-percent more power than the LM2500+. It offers 99.6-percent reliability. The LM2500+G4 gas turbine has been selected to power the FREMM class frigates and Italian PPA patrol vessels. The new engine was ready for integration into the first FREMM frigate in September 2008.
