Description: The Turbomeca Makila is a turboshaft family designed to power medium-size twin-engine helicopters such as Super Puma, Cougar, EC725, EC225 and Rooivalk.The engine rated at 1,700-shp to 2,400-shp has been designed based on five modules for a better maintainability with a time between overhaul (TBO) of 3,000 hours. More than 2,200 Makilas have been produced for 90 operators in 50 countries logging more than 8 million flight hours.
The latest derivative of Makila, named Makila 2A, was designed to power the Eurocopter's EC225 and EC725 helicopters, Super Puma's newest variant. It was awarded engine certification in July 2004. The Makila 2A rated at 2,100-shp at takeoff is the most powerful version of Turbomeca's Makila engine family.
