Description: The Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1000G Geared Turbofan (GTF) is a new generation engine intended to power narrow-body aircraft such as business jets and regional jets. The GTF engine will deliver a 12 percent reduction in fuel burn , 50 percent reduction in noise and emissions, and 40 percent reduction in maintenance costs over today's commercial engines. Key engine components tests and ground testing were conducted in 2007 while the GTF flight testing is expected in 2008.

In early October 2007, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) announced the selected of the PW1200G Geared Turbofan to power its MRJ regional jet which is intended to enter revenue service by 2012.
