Description: The Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1000G Geared Turbofan (GTF) is a new generation engine intended to power narrow-body aircraft such as business jets and regional jets. The GTF engine will deliver a 12 percent reduction in fuel burn , 50 percent reduction in noise and emissions, and 40 percent reduction in maintenance costs over today's commercial engines. Key engine components tests and ground testing were conducted in 2007 while the GTF flight testing is expected in 2008.

The PurePower PW1500G is the variant designed to power the Bombardier CSeries regional jet family, the CS100 and the CS300.
