Description: The Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1000G Geared Turbofan (GTF) is a new generation engine intended to power narrow-body aircraft such as business jets and regional jets. The GTF engine will deliver a 12 percent reduction in fuel burn , 50 percent reduction in noise and emissions, and 40 percent reduction in maintenance costs over today's commercial engines. Key engine components tests and ground testing were conducted in 2007 while the GTF flight testing is expected in 2008.

The PurePower PW1900G is one of two variants designed to power the second generation Embraer E-jet regional aircraft family slated to enter service in 2018 powering the E190-E2 and E195-E2 (in 2019) jetliners. The PW1900G engine develops 22,000-lb of thrust.
