Description: The Pratt & Whitney PW4170, also known as PW4000-100 Avantage70, fan engines have been developed specially to power the Airbus A330-200F freighter, the A330-200 and -300 twin-engine, wide-body airliners. The PW4000-100 engine family is certified for thrust output ranging from 64,500 to 70,000 pounds. These engines have outstanding performance, reliability and durability. The PW4170 is scheduled to enter flight testing in the second quarter of 2008 on a 747 flying test bed. The engine will be installed on A330-200 and -300 airliners by mid-2009 followed by the A330-200F freighter in late 2009.

Rated at 70,000 pounds of thrust, the PW4170 is intended to power the Airbus A330 airliner and freighter aircraft. The PW4170 features the Advantage70 technology upgrade which translates into enhanced engine performance, increased thrust, lower fuel consumption, increased durability and reduced maintenance costs. The environmental friendly PW4170 engine reduces CO2 emissions by 650 tons per aircraft, per year compared to A330 aircraft powered by early versions of PW4000-100 engine.
