Description: In the 1990s, Rolls Royce and Turbomeca jointly developed the RTM322 turboshaft family to suit a wide range of commercial and military helicopter applications powered by two or three engines. The turboshaft family was designed to develop 2,100-shp at takeoff with future growth to 3,300-shp. The RTM 322 engine has been selected to power the AgustaWestland AW101, NH Industries NH90 and GKN Westland WAH-64 helicopters with approximately 1,600 engines ordered or on order. More than 900 RTM 322 engines have been produced so far, logging more than 450,000 flight hours.
The RTM 322 01/8 and RTM 322 01/12 engines power the WAH-64 and Merlin HM Mk1 helicopters. The RTM 322 turboshaft had taken 65 percent of EH101 helicopter orders as of May 2005.
