Description: In the 1990s, Rolls Royce and Turbomeca jointly developed the RTM322 turboshaft family to suit a wide range of commercial and military helicopter applications powered by two or three engines. The turboshaft family was designed to develop 2,100-shp at takeoff with future growth to 3,300-shp. The RTM 322 engine has been selected to power the AgustaWestland AW101, NH Industries NH90 and GKN Westland WAH-64 helicopters with approximately 1,600 engines ordered or on order. More than 900 RTM 322 engines have been produced so far, logging more than 450,000 flight hours.
The RTM 322 02/8 Mk200 engine was selected to power Merlin HC Mk3 helicopter. Its design is based on six modules with double channel Electronic Engine Control Unit (EECU). In September 1998, the United Kingdom selected the RTM 322 engine to power its Merlin HC Mk3 helicopters. In late 2001, Denmark and Portugal selected the engine to power their AW101 Merlin helicopters.
