Description: The SaM146 is a turbofan engine developed to meet the demands of jetliners operating on the regional market and short-to-medium range routes. It has been developed by PowerJet, a joint venture between Snecma Group of France and NPO Saturn of Russia, and was selected to power the Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCA) Russian Regional Jet (RRJ) in 2003. The SaM146 engine power output ranges from 14,000-lb to 17,500-lb of thrust. Snecma's expertise gained with the CFM56 turbofan engine has been used on the SaM146 development.

The SaM146-1S18 turbofan engine is an improved variant offering more thrust at takeoff to deliver a better experience as well as lower specific fuel consumption. The SaM146-1S18 engine is expected to power the SSJ100B regional jet in the early 2020s.
