Description: The T700 engine was designed for the US Army's UH-60A Black Hawk helicopter as a result of lessons learned in Vietnam. The key requirements of this engine were reliability, operation under adverse environmental conditions and low maintainability.

The T700-GE-701D is the latest -701 engine variant featuring improved hot section components. These components provide twice durability and 5% more power output than -701C model engines. It will be provided as an upgrade kit to being applied to existing -700 engines. T700-GE-701D is one of the keys of the UH-60M modernization program, which involves A and L UH-60 models upgraded to M standard.

The US Army awarded T700-GE-701D engine qualification in November 2004. It is expected that the entire fleet of US Army's Apache and H-60 Black Hawk helicopters will be powered by -701D model. Actually, the -701D was selected by the US Army as the standard equipment for new production UH-60M helicopters. Finally, the standard engine for the UH-60M will be the -701E model which is a derivative of the -701D.
