Description: The Trent 500 family of engines have been specifically designed to meet the requirements of longer range, wide body Airbus A340-500 and -600 airliners. Its design has been cleared for 60,000 pounds of thrust but, currently, Trent 500 engines are only available rated at 53,000-lb (Trent 553) and 56,000-lb (Trent 556).

Trent 500 provide reliable and economical power to latest A340 models. Its design derived from the RB211 three-shaft engine and the Trent 800 wide-chord fan core that has been scaled down for the Trent 500. Low noise and emissions levels are a goal achieved by the Trent 500 engines. The Trent 553 model entered service in 2003 powering the Airbus A340-500 ultra-long range airliner.
