Description: The XF-9-1 is an experimental fighter jet engine developed by Ishikawa Heavy Industries to power a fifth generation aircraft under development by Japan. The engine was first tested in 2018 powering the ATD-X demonstrator. The engine is deemed the Japanese counterpart to the F119 engine powering the F-22A Raptor stealth fighter. The engine will support super cruise speed and its shorter design will make possible a larger internal weapons bay. The engine has been selected to power the F-X Godzilla stealth aircraft expected to enter service by 2035.
