Description: The AN/ALQ-157 is an infrared countermeasures system used by the US Marine Corps and Navy aircraft to defeat heat-seeking missiles by jamming its seeker through pulsed, high-intensity IR energy. It replaced the Lockheed Martin AN/ALQ-123. It suits both helicopter and airplane applications.

ALQ-157 has been integrated onto SH-3 Sea King, CH-46 Sea Knight, CH-47D Chinook, C/MH-53 Sea Stallion, C-130 Hercules and P-3C Orion aircraft. BAE Systems is upgrading more than 350 ALQ-157s to the AN/ALQ-157A(V)1 configuration. The upgrade program is expected to complete in 2006.
