Description: The AN/ALQ-248 is an electronic warfare (EW) pod intended for installation on the US Navy MH-60R or MH-60S helicopters. The Advanced Off-Board Electronic Warfare (AOEW) Active Mission Payload (AMP) AN/ALQ-248 provides electronic warfare surveillance and countermeasures capabilities against anti-ship missiles (ASMs). All in, the pod will allow prompt detection and countering of incoming ASMs independently or in conjunction with the SEWIP Block 2 EW suite. The US Navy awarded Lockheed Martin a developmental contract for up to 18 ALQ-248 systems in January 2017 with first deliveries slated for 2019 and initial operational capability (IOC) in 2021.
