Description: United Defense Close-In Counter Measure (CICM) is an active protection system capable of intercepting and destroying rocket propelled grenades (RPGs). The US Army seeks to provide the CICM protection suite against RPGs to US combat forces deployed worldwide. The system uses passive cueing sensors, low cost tracking radar, a compact high-speed launcher, lightweight and precise non-bursting countermeasure, and new Nickel-Metal-Hydride batteries to supply pulse power.

The program started in late 2003 and the first live fire test occurred in early September 2004 at the US Army's Redstone Technical Test Center at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. CICM detects and tracks incoming rockets, launches its countermeasures and defeats the threats before they reach the protected platform.
