Description: The Drozd-2 is a modular active protection system developed by KBP in order to protect armored vehicles from anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM) and rocket propelled grenades (RPGs) approaching at a velocity of up to 1,200 meters per second. The system is also intended to protect convoys of special purpose vehicles and stationary targets. Drozd-2 offers a 360-degree coverage and -6 to +20-degree coverage in elevation with a success rate of 80-90 percent for armored vehicles and 70-80 percent for special purpose vehicles. The system works automatically using a radar for detection of incoming threats and a series of interceptor devices that take out the threat a range between 7 to 10 meters from the carrier. The carrier vehicle can be on the move or stationary with the system being designed to operate effectively in a wide variety of climates.
