Description: The US Navy Dual Band Fiber Optic Towed Decoy is aimed at delivering a new decoy system to protect the Super Hornet fleet form emerging radiofrequency based threats. Raytheon and BAE Systems, previously involved in the development of the ALE-50 and ALE-55 decoys, are bidding for the new US Navy decoy system following contracts awarded in October 2019. The new dual band will work in cooperation with the aircraft's onbard electronic warfare systems to optimize its effectiveness. The next-generation decoy system is expected to be fielded in the early 2020s onboard Block II and Block III Super Hornet multirole fighters and the EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft.
