Description: The EuroDASS (Defense Aids Sub-Systems) has been designed to ensure Eurofighter-Typhoon survives against a wide range of threats while providing continuous situational awareness and threat identification. The EuroDASS, also known as DASS, is an organic Typhoon aircraft system. The system is being developed and manufactured by an industry team led by EADS Defence Electronics. The team also includes Selex (a Finmeccanica and BAE Systems Joint Venture) in Great Britain, Elettronica in Italy and Indra in Spain.
The EuroDASS system comprises an integrated radar warner, Electronic Support Measures (ESM), a laser threat and missile approach warning system, an Electronic Countermeasures System (ECM), decoys, towed decoys, jammers and other sensors and avionics. The ESM/ECM constitutes a powerful radar jamming system. All the subsystems of EuroDASS are managed by a single central self-propection computer. The EuroDASS displays situational awareness information to the pilot which includes radar and SAM sites while enhancing survivability during military missions.
On 11 August 2005, EADS Defence Electronics was awarded a 260 million Euros contract to supply EuroDASS self-defense electronic system to 236 Eurofighter/Typhoon ordered by the program's four partner nations (Germany, UK, Italy and Spain) under Tranche 2 contract. The items on order under this contract are expected to be delivered through 2012.
