Description: The Icarus is an active protection system (APS) for land vehicles being developed by a team led by Leonardo to meet the requirements of the United Kingdom (UK) Ministry of Defense (MoD). Icarus is intended to protect against a broad range of weapon systems endangering existing armored vehicles and tanks such as rocket propelled grenades (RPGs) and anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs). In addition to Leonardo, Icarus will be developed by BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin UK, Ultra Electronics, Frazer-Nash, Brighton University, Abstract Solutions, Roke Manor Research and SCISYS. The British Army extensive fleet of land vehicles may become the prime operator of the Icarus APS.
