Description: The Iron Dome of the Seas is a shipborne version of the Iron Dome missile defense system intended to counter the threat posed by short-range artillery rockets and 155mm artillery shells with ranges of up to 70 kilometers. The new air defense system interfaces with the ship's radar system to acquire the incoming threats. The Iron Dome of the Seas was first deployed by Israel aboard one of its Saar 5 corvettes in November 2017. The Saar 6 corvettes are also intended to be equipped with the new missile system in the 2019-2020 timeframe.
