Description: The Iron First is a hard kill active protection system developed by IMI of Israel to counter anti-tank weapons aimed at a variety of armored vehicles ranging from light armored vehicles to main battle tanks (MBTs) and infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). The Iron Fist employs a blast interceptor to neutralize the incoming threat such as anti-tank missiles, kinetic energy tank rounds or rocket-powered grenades. Integration on a variety of armored vehicles is due to its compact, light and modular design. This countermeasure system is suitable in several combat scenarios including urban warfare and low intensity conflicts.

The Iron Fist's insensitive warhead interceptors have been designed to detonate at a safe distance from the protected armored vehicle minimizing the platform's potential damage. In addition to the interceptors, the system consists of detection radar developed by IAI Elta and optional infrared passive detector developed by Elbit Elisra for short time response with maximum reliability. Its multi-purpose design allows the interceptors to be equipped with an anti-personnel warhead to engage hostile manpower surrounding the vehicle.
