Description: The Mutual Active Protection System (MAPS) is an active vehicle protection system developed by Diehl BGT Defence to defeat anti-tank rockets and guided missiles including advanced missiles equipped with tandem warheads. MAPS employs active and passive sensors to detect incoming threats and highly agile interceptors to destroy anti-tank weapons at safe distances from the protected vehicle. The same sensor suite provides situational awareness and fire control as well as localization of hostile firing positions enabling rapid and effective counterstrikes by the carrier vehicle. The German Army conducted the first test campaign involving the MAPS installed on the Fuchs armored vehicle at the end of 2010.
