Description: The Modular Active Protection System (MAPS) is an advanced soft kill demonstrator utilizing open architecture technology to protect armored vehicles from anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM). The US Army awarded a contract to Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman in 2015 to develop the MAPS solution. Northrop Grumman provides the Passive Infrared Cueing Sensor (PICS) and Multifunction Electro-Optic System countermeasure (MEOS). Lockheed Martin will provide its Open Architecture Processor. The MAPS was first integrated into the M1A1 Abrams tank in March 2017.
